Thank goodness, Brooks has debuted Adrenaline 10. I count on Adrenaline to fit the most narrow foot, which is why the Adrenaline 9 was such a disappointment. Prior versions were perfect, but version 9 had changed so much from prior versions that it would no longer fit the narrow foot properly. Here’s my post about it.https://drshoe.wordpress.com/2009/02/04/shoe-review-brooks-adrenaline-gts-8-vs-gts-9/.
Now however, I am happy to report that Adrenaline 10 rises to the level of fit for the narrow foot that all versions prior to 9 had. What a relief. This is a classic case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and Brooks has been restored to their rightful first place in helping runners with narrow feet find a perfectly fitting running shoe.
As an added bonus, the overall look is much more stylish and sleek making this shoe even nicer. Thanks Brooks and thanks JY for bringing these shoes in for me to evaluate.
Just bought a pair today. I’ll let you know how they work out for me (narrow foot, slight overpronation). They felt great in the store.
Bought a pair and have done 100 odd miles in them so far. They are superb running shoes! They’re not as stiff as the 8s and they definitely feel more natural than the 9s. I like the look of these too. Great job – best running shoe yet.
When my Kayano 14’s died while training for a half marathon and the 15’s were not cutting it I went to the running store for help, I ended up in the Adrenaline 10 and run the race in them, great shoe, I may need to stock up on before they change to the 11’s and break what works.
Looks like the 10s are going to work for me – very happy. Skipped the 9s because of negative comments (thanks to all). Had stocked up on 8s and finally used the last of the last of those. Broke open the 10s last week and they seem great. Looks like Brooks did listen. Like Jenise (posted 05/06/10) I will probably stock up on these 10s in case the 11s are changed again. Very relieved! Happy running/walking to everybody!
This is great news! Haven’t read your blog in a while, Dr Sanders. But was wondering what you thought of the adrenaline 10. I’ve been stuck with a dwindling supply of adrenaline 8s, just broke out the last pair.
I’m going to give them a try very soon!
Since I posted a negative response on the Adrenaline 9, which was a bad fit for me, I am happy to report that the Adrenaline 10 is much more like the pre-Adrenaline 9s. It is not the same fit as the 6, 7 & 8 and it is somewhat hard to get a snug fit, but it doesn’t cause any problems and is overall a great shoe for a long distance runner like myself.
I have loved the 10s but they are hard to come by now. Has anyone tried the 11s or 12s? They seemed to have added cushioning which makes me nervous.
Brooks Adrenaline 12 is similar to Adrenaline 10, so, in spite of extra cushioning (DNA system) I think you’ll be pleased. You may also want to try the trail version, Brooks Adrenaline ASR 8 which in the medium width (D) is as narrow as the Adrenaline 12 B. The ASR just doesn’t have as firm of a heel counter. Brooks Adrenaline 10 was slightly wider than prior models and Brooks Adrenaline 12 is too, so you should be fine. Your other option is Asics 2160, but overall, I think you’ll still be fine in Adrenaline 12.
